Where Are They Now? Featuring Daryll Peirce

We are pleased to feature Daryll Peirce, who is one of our original artists who we have known from the beginning days of Never Ender.

NE: When and what did you start selling at Never Ender?

Daryll: Since 2005. Can't believe that much time has passed already!

NE: Where do you live now?

Daryll: San Francisco.

NE: What sort of art/craft are you working with at this time?

Art, "Or The Bad News First

Daryll: Well, I'm always painting, building, drawing and exhibiting artwork. I put my clothing project, The Indivisual Collective on the back-burner for about a year but re-ignited it just before the holiday 2011 season. I've been a dad for 15 months now and I definitely consider that a constant craft, especially since I've downsized my painting and design studios into my house to be close to my daughter. I used to curate more art exhibitions, but have let that go to focus more on my work and of course family.

The Indivisual Collective has grown from more of a selfish design and creative outlet of mine into an expanding community of artists and supporting their unique visions for each design.

NE: What do you do for your 9-5 job?

"Underbelly" A project SFO

Daryll: I take on a host of commercial art direction, design and illustration jobs as well to fulfill the rather large financial gap left over so I can provide for my new family and live in the city I want to be in. For the past year I've primarily worked on storyboards and micro sites for upcoming Warner Bros movies and an array of stuff for a few ad agencies. There's always random book covers, ads, packaging, websites and other stuff speckled in there as well when I have the time and the projects are interesting.

NE: Where do you see yourself and your art in another 5 years?

Daryll: I try not to think about that too much because it puts too much pressure on this already stressed out dude. It also might limit myself from the possibilities that may arise out of derailing from a "plan". My hopes are that I learn to find happiness in my artwork instead of battling it everyday. That it continues to open me up to new people, experiences and locations. That I not get caught up in dwelling on the negative aspects of the "business" of art. And that I find a better balance between art, work and family that also includes sleep.

It is finally time for "Art on the Lawn"!!!
Seems like I have been waiting all year for this event and the chance to set up shop and see all your happy faces again. Well I guess it has been since January when the store closed.
This will be the 3rd year Never Ender has hosted this great event and this year it is going to to be bigger and better than ever with music, great food, live art demos, Lavender Ridge Tours, crafting classes, origami, cotton candy, home made Lavender ice cream and of course ART!!!
We have about 10 local artists booths plus the Never Ender booth will have all the great items you see online. We have potters and photographers and jewelers and more! So make sure you drop by and see us!

WHAT: The 8th Annual "Art on the Lawn"
WHERE: Lavender Ridge 7450 W 4th St. and Mayberry, 2 miles west of W McCarran
WHEN: Saturday, July 12th from 10am-5pm
WHO: Never Ender Gallery and Lavender Ridge, plus great local artists who will be showing and selling their work and hand made items.

It has been so long!
I guess my 60 hour work weeks have been really taking it out of me.

The event is really coming together and we are getting excited.
We have had so many great artists apply and we hope we can take everyone!
We are still looking for a few bands to play, preferably acoustic or calm music that will fit with the event. The bluegrass folks from last year will be there and boy are they fun.
All applications are due on May 26th, so if you haven't sent yours in please hurry.
We are working on the schedule this week for the music, art and other festivities and it will be posted on the website and blog asap.

Featured Artist: de'Leau Jewelry

We have been carrying de'Leau Jewelry for over a year now and we are so happy they have moved online with us. The beautiful jewelry by Adrienne and Sara DeLoe began with an interest in handcrafting original and creative jewelry pieces. They both come from a fine arts background and incorporate their artistic sensibilities into creating unique and beautiful pendants. My favorite part of de'Leau jewelry is that many of the flowers they use are straight out of their own garden. It just makes it all so personal. We love de'Leau and so will you!

How long have you been making art?
For as long as I can remember. When I was four years old, I had a drawing published in a child psychology book.
How has your art changed, ie style, medium, etc?
My art is now more me than it has ever been. I have found a style that I like and continue to grow in the work I make.
What else do you love to make?
Paintings and graphic designs.
What do you do in your spare time?
Paint, hang out outside.
Who do you admire, what inspires you?
Everything in nature.
What do you hope for the future of your work?
I hope to gain more exposure and sell more jewelry, as well as get more exposure for my paintings.

Brrr it sure is cold out compared to yesterday. Me and my partner and best friend Stacie went on a 30 mile bicycle ride yesterday and enjoyed the great weather. We are training(sort of) for the Scalleycat race next weekend, so we don't die. Wish us luck!

After chatting with my shopping cart folks I have fixed the product thumbnails to make it easier to browse the store. I think you will all agree it looks a millions times better. So go check it out!

We have new jewelry from The Vintage Empire which we love love love. Her typewriter key jewelry has been very popular in the store and FYI she takes special orders! For only about $5 more she will make you a custom typewriter key necklace, ring or bracelet with your initials etc.

We will start having a week long "Featured Artist" a few times each month. The featured artist will have a special spot on the front page of the site talking a bit more about them and what they do. As well as getting to know our artists a bit better we will give you special discounts on their items while they are featured! The first will be up in the next few days.

The applications for the 8th Annual "Art on the Lawn" are now available on the websites front page. All applications are due May 26th and we will be accepting people as we get the applications so early application is advised as there are limited spaces.

As the store grows we are still looking for great artists who make well made clothing and accessories and in the near future we will be adding our "Art" category to the store. Contact us via email for more info.

Art on the Lawn 2008

I have finished the application for the 8th annual "Art on the Lawn". This years event will be at Lavender Ridge again but this year we will have a lot more room. The event is going to be even better than last year. New additions to the schedule are live art demos, tasty food for sale, cooking demos, field tours, and more that i cant think of right now. They have converted the big barn to an air conditioned room that they rent out. We will be using it for an eating area and maybe have classes down there. We are taking over Lavender Ridge this year and they are being great about doing whatever we suggest.

Long Overdue

Well life sort of took over there for a while, sorry for the lack of posts in the last few months. I am back on track and trying to continue to do a million things, but actually do them all now. So here we go...

The online store is now open and looking great! We have lots of new artists and we are adding new items weekly. We are of course still seeking more great handmade items and artwork, so if you or someone you know makes great handmade items, send us an email.

I want to welcome our newest artist Lauren Haupt. Lauren lives in NYC and makes the most beautiful jewelry. I really like what she has to say in her etsy profile, so I'm just going to quote it...

"I've always wanted to make things with my hands. When I was younger and "bored" it would be because I wanted to get my hands in something, craft something. But, because I hadn't really tapped into my craft-yness yet, I usually made brownies. Which wasn't necessarily a bad thing.
I'd always felt a little "artsy" so I thought I'd try my hand at art school where I went on to study furniture design and metal smithing. And now, I'm totally in love and happy with the fact that I can have these ideas, visions, and turn them into something tangible. It feels good and fulfilling, pretty much like a brownie."

Well Lauren we love that you have these ideas as well because your jewelry is just amazing! I've been trying to narrow down which item(s) I want to buy, but you better look soon or I may just buy them all!

In other news, applications for the 8th annual "Art on the Lawn" are now available on the website. Applications are due in May but early application is encouraged as space in limited and we have already approved a few of our past and present artists. What is "Art on the Lawn" you ask? Well this is our 3rd year hosting (it was passed down to us by another gallery) and our second year holding it at the beautiful Lavender Ridge. Lavender Ridge is a Lavender farm and store that has an amazing yard they are letting us use. This years event will not only have artists booths but food, live art demos, craft classes, cooking demos, live music, and so much more. The store is emptying out and some of the fixtures are gone and the walls are coming down and overall its sort of sad.
But for you all its happy because in hopes to clear the remaining merchandise out in a hurry I'm marking it all down to $5, $10, $20, and $30.

Also we have a lot of fixtures and randomness for sale, a lot of great things for $1 in the back room, track lighting, closet racks, and hangers. So if you know people with stores tell them to come check things out.

have no limits. I was looking for something in the bathroom drawers just now and found a tag in one drawer and a hanger in the other. So I looked up my inventory on the item only to find that it should still be here. So some horrible person stole a shirt from me. I take stealing very personal as when you rip off my store you are ripping me off. I mean its my money that bought this merchandise. I don't agree with any form of stealing, but Walmart and big chains is one thing, but a small boutique or independent store is another. The nerve of some people. I guess this is one thing I won't have to deal with once I'm online.

I just came across these great magnets and other items from a two person company called Circa Ceramics. Check their Etsy store here...
I just love the vintage images they use and the vibrant colors. I know some people who would have loved finding these in their stockings this year, too bad I found them so late, maybe birthdays.

Thank you to everyone who has had such nice things to say about the whole blogging thing. I appreciate hearing that you are reading it.

I'm not sure where all my customers are, seems like people arn't shopping yet which is scary. I was planning on pulling all the handmade and consignment items today but I think I may hold off for a few days so that people can shop them for a few more days. I'm wondering if people are waiting for some huge blow out sale since the brick and mortar store is closing. Hate to break it to you but most of the items are going back to their owners or on the website, so there won't really be a huge sale. So stop waiting, start shopping!

I just got the new order from Circular Accessories over in Baton Rouge, LA and I must say these new onesies are ADORABLE! Look forward to a blog all about them and their adorableness very soon. I decided to put out some of the new pocket mirrors for xmas shoppers and they are already selling. For $5 how can you pass one up?

Our first all new indie company for the new online store is a great couple operation called "Maxine, Dear". Husband and wife team, Josh and Niki Quinn own a boutique in Columbus, OH called "Tigertree" where they make all their great handmade belt buckles. They save books from being thrown out and cut parts of the covers and set them in a buckle to be preserved and enjoyed for years. The image is set in a pewter belt buckle and cast with a thick layer of resin for protection.
Buckles cost $28 and will be on the new Never Ender site very soon..

Life has been getting in the way of me launching the new online store so it may be postponed until January. I was really trying to get it ready in time but I am stressed enough that I figured I should give myself a little slack, room to breathe. Its been hard getting the new items here in time also as people, including the shipping companies, are so busy with the holidays. So here's to the New Year, New Site, New Beginnings, New Adventures!

Hello there!
This is my (Amber's) very first blog entry on my very first blog and I'm pretty excited.
While soaking away my stress in the first bath I have taken in what seems like forever, I decided a blog would be a nice way to share what's going on with Never Ender during our change from brick and mortar to online. Also for me to note all the things that run through my head while trying to sleep lately and get out my stresses and anxieties.
As you will all notice very soon, my writing/spelling/grammar skills are not great and I babble, but hopefully you will bare with me.

As you may know by now Never Ender will be closing its brick and mortar store in Reno in January 2008 and moving online. The new online store (MyNeverEnder.com), will sell even more unique clothing, accessories and artwork by emerging artists and designers from all over. We will have mostly new artists from what we have carried in the store and sell a lot of eco-friendly items. We will offer FREE local delivery to our Reno customers, and FREE shipping on all orders over $50 anywhere in the US. In an attempt to make shopping easier for our customers, we will have great sizing guides so you can fit yourself via web for that perfect piece of clothing. Overall MyNeverEnder.com will be amazing!
